Reaching the Island

The island of Ventotene belongs to the Latina Province and it is situated  off the coasts of the Regions of Lazio and Campania (Latitude 40 ° 47’49 “20 N / Longitude 13 ° 25’55” E 56).

Formia is the main port of embarkation to reach the Island

Laziomar (www.laziomar.com) hydrofoils and ferries providing public transport service to Ventotene with at least two daily connections leave from here.

Arriving at the embarkation of Formia

By plane

The nearest airports are those of Rome (www.adr.it) and Naples (www.gesac.it), from which proceed your journey by train or taxi to the embarkation of Formia.

By the train

Reaching Formia by train is quite convenient. Train services (www.trenitalia.com) are available every hour from Rome and from Naples. The trip takes about 1 hour, then 10 minutes by foot or by taxi (10 €) to reach the ferry service.

The island of Ventotene is a natural paradise, with narrow streets and a very limited vehicular circulation during the summer season.  If travelling by car, you are invited to leave your car in Formia. At the port of Formia a vehicle recovery service is available alongwith car garage facility with valet delivery on your return.
